I laugh when I look at the title of this article “How to Wear a Gemstone” because it seems obvious. You wear it by placing it on your body, of course. You either put it around your neck on a necklace or your wear it as a bracelet. What more is there to say? I have been wearing crystals and gemstones for years, and I rarely put one around my neck.

As a guy who isn’t really into jewelry I have had to be more creative. I can’t imagine wearing a bracelet, and rings bug me. Anything on my fingers seems to bother me energetically. I have a beautiful platinum ring that spends no time on my finger. I will not even wear a wedding ring though I am happily married. So what am I to do? I will get creative.

I am going to share with you some of the techniques or tricks I have learned over the years. Some are straightforward, and others may seem a little backwards. For me what has always been most important is to expose the energy of the stone or crystal to the proper area on my body throughout the course of my daily routine. I also wanted to keep it low profile. In short, I didn’t really want to have to explain to anyone what I was doing

I started wearing crystals back in the early 1980’s and crystals were not as accepted as they are now. In some circles it was fine. I am pretty open about my leanings, and might even be called “outspoken” about some things, but when you have to show up for a forty hour work week in a conservative environment, you had best be hiding your crystals.

Duct tape is wonderful. You have to be careful with it however. I used to duct tape crystals all over my body. There was nowhere I would hesitate to tape them. Now I am not a hairy guy, but when it comes time to remove a crystal that you have duct taped to your skin, it can get freaky. I don’t remember actually losing any actual skin, but taking the tape off can hurt.

The value in taping it directly to the body is that the energy of stone comes in contact with your skin which increases exposure to its vibration. I have also had the experience of sweat loosening the tape and it dropping off my body. I lost a few expensive stones this way without even realizing it. Sometimes I still do this walking around the house with a stone duct taped over my heart chakra.

I can feel it working, and I will notice that as time goes on it helps to shift the stone up or down or sideways accordingly to get at specific areas that need it. In some ways this is similar to acupuncture as there are meridians. I have also noticed that energy that needs to be dispelled will move around a bit in resistance to expulsion, so I have to keep at it and follow it around with the stone.

Incidentally, at some point in time I worried a bit about metallic bits in the tape or somehow disturbing the stones energy with glue and all that. I spent a good amount of time on this and always felt fine about it. I would check in with the stones. It was never a problem. Everybody is different, however, so you may want to check in with yourself and your stones about this.
