We are Formless Awareness
- “ The perspective we need to cultivate is that of allowance. We need to see that everything is already perfect as it is.”
Our goal is to understand and be free of unnecessary pain. Much of our chronic pain began as fear and has been held in the body for a prolonged period of time. We wish to be free of this pain and in addition learn behaviors that will prevent similar problems in the future. The last post in this series focused on how fear arises out of a division in awareness. This division begins our suffering and it CAN be brought to an end through the cultivation of a new perspective.
We are awareness. We are THE awareness without form. There is no separation between my awareness and your awareness. It is divided simply by our sense of identity. You identity with your body and I identify with mine. This began in childhood when our parents insisted that we adopt a name and associate what happens around us with that name. It is easy to support this idea by the fact that we have these individual bodies.
A Deep and Inherent Harmony
You body ends with your outer layer of skin and there is a bit of empty space and then another body begins with their outer layer of skin. This is how we identify cats and trees as well as everything else. We have names for them. What is missing in this picture is the fact that ALL of these things are deeply related and inter-connected. They are expressions of a single awareness.
We may reject this idea and assert that nature is in conflict. We might find fault with this scenario and argue that if this is the case then everything we see should function in complete harmony. So it does. Our bodies are perfect examples. If you extend nature’s wisdom beyond the body you see things being worked out between beasts—predator and prey. This is balance. There are battles going on constantly in our bodies between various cells—all to keep the organism in balance.
Leaning to Allow the Wisdom of Nature
The natural world is balanced in the same manner. We may not like what occurs but that is our minds kicking in and taking preference. These preferences are an extension of our fears which in turn is an extension of our identification. We cast our votes on what should or should not happen based on what we personally have invested in. The perspective we need to cultivate is that of allowance. We need to see that everything is already perfect as it is.
We are thinkers. We plot constantly. We are driven to it. Our problems call upon us to think of solutions. We all have so many problems to solve. This is how we feel but it is not really the case. The truth is that we have no problems. They are all in our heads. I promised in the last post to begin discussing the subject of matter. What is matter? Some would say that matter is energy—all matter is energy. This is true as everything that exists in material form is comprised of energy.
Mother Nature is What Matters
Although this is true it is not a sufficient explanation. If matter is energy then why not just use the word energy? It is because the word matter matters. You can extract the word “mater” from matter which means “mother” and is more along the lines of its true meaning. Matter is the form that energy takes because it has been invested in emotionally. Matter is what truly matters to the one awareness. It is the bond that holds all things together. It is Mother Nature’s wisdom in action.
I will continue with both the subject of matter and the law of attraction in the next post. The next series of posts will deal with the power of love.
